Who are you?

I’m a Mama, Unleashing Stories. I am not green. I drive a gas-guzzling SUV. I use a generator when I camp to power my air-conditioner and microwave. Survival is not about being green. Survival is about getting what I want. No. Matter. What. I power me. I power my world. Some days it also requires electricity. Every day it requires courage.

Why do you blog?

To remember where I've been, what I've learned, and who I've met.

What is your favorite part of blogging?

I adore learning new things. A lot of my posts start with a question, something new I want to integrate into our lives regarding survival and preparedness (and a way to do it without giving up all the things I love). It's a lot of fun to find an answer, try a new gadget, and share the successes (and frequent failures).

When not blogging you are....OUTSIDE! Camping, snowmobiling, gardening, or playing in the sandbox

I am a young Military wife and mother to two handsome boys!  I started blogging 2 years ago via our family blog so our families could see our children grow while the Army has us away from them!  I became obsessed with couponing and by the request of my friends started my savings blog Fun Saving Mom!  My goal of Fun Saving Mom is to show others how I provide my family with the best life we can possibly have on only one income. I save our family a lot of money by cutting corners as often as I can without sacrificing the quality of products that I provide to my family.  If I can show one person how to live comfortably like we do one our one income (and am Army income at that) than I feel my blog has done justice!!

When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging in January 2010. I used to send out emails to family and friends with all the deals I was finding. I felt like I was bombarding their inboxes with deals (which I was). I wanted a place where they could go at their leisure to find coupons and deals

What is your favorite part of blogging?

I love sharing my passion with others and helping them reach their financial goals. I've also met amazing readers and bloggers. It's a wonderful group of men and women to be a part of!

What makes your blog special?

I hope that it shows through my posts that I love what I do. I share my spending habits and peeks into my family life. It's just me; a regular mom with a crazy coupon habit! I also try to include deals specific to my area (in VA).

Day 2: Something you love about yourself

day 01 - 30 days of truth

I had mentioned in my post earlier today, that I would be doing the 30 days of truth blogging challenge. Here is day 1.

This is why I wanted to do this challenge. When else are you going to really think about yourself like this? Things I hate about myself are as follows:

• My need to make everyone happy
• My insecurities about what I am capable of
• My need to have someone in my life to make me feel complete
• Procrastination
• Sometimes I hate how blunt I am to people
• My inability to see what I do wrong
• All of the excess hair on my body
• The inability to see that the excess hair on my body is not a horrible thing
• The fact that I cannot and will not talk about my feelings, at all. Ever. 

There are probably more, but at this time, I am going to stop the list. If edited, I will repost entire post with new things in bold.

Happy September!

Happy September everyone!!! This year is going by so fast! This month I have three things I'll be doing on the blog. First off,this month is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. This is something important to me. Not because I know a kid(s) with cancer; I personally do not know anyone with cancer. My career and life goal, is to be a Pediatric Oncology Nurse. Everyone always asks "why?" Well, I'll answer that question later on in the month. For now, please just spread the word. I'll *try* to post a new fact every day this month!


Second, is the 30 days of truth. A lot of bloggers have been doing it, and so I'm going to jump on the bandwagon. Also, I would like to do this because it seems like something good for me to do during this time in my life. It will ask me to really look at myself, and really evaluate things. I encourage all of you to join me in this challenge!!

The third thing going on is the Pen-to-Paper Challenge with Pear Tree Greetings. I am SO late getting this started! Sorry Christy!!!

So my first note has not been sent out yet, but has been written. It is to my friend that I've known since high school. We fall in and out of contact constantly throughout the years, but we are finally in a good little groove with keeping in contact. My note, though I will not say everything that was in it, was to just let her know that I love her, always will, and will always be there for her. 

The second note, is to my grandmother, who is going through a tough time with moving her mother in with her. It's been a long process for her, and I just wanted to tell her how much I love her, and how amazingly strong she is. I hope to be that strong some time in my life.
